The Strand Shopping Centre

Bootle

490,000 SQ FT

The Strand was acquired in 2017 by the Council because it is the key cornerstone asset in Bootle Town Centre, critical to the regeneration of the Town. The long-term vision for The Strand is full-scale regeneration that focuses on promoting dynamism and inclusive and sustainable places that align with the local community.

Ellandi’s strategic asset management has ensured occupancy across the centre whilst plans were developed, with vacant space being occupied with over 15 different community interest groups. Some of these have left a lasting impact on the town centre, including business incubators and Children’s literary centres.

The internal processes that Ellandi has developed to work with Sefton Council have created an innovative, tailored reporting approach and governance structure that allows recommendations to evolve with their regulatory and procurement obligations.

Bespoke cashflow and development modelling have helped the council to understand the centre’s performance in real-time throughout external shocks and allowed us to support, now successful, funding application bids from central government.

Ellandi’s recent appointment as development manager will provide capacity and support to deliver Phase 1 of the repurposing programme which includes addressing the oversupply of retail, delivering high class public realm, refining the tenant mix and introducing new civic services to the town centre. It also includes the transformation of the Bootle Canalside, operated by Salt and Tar, to provide a variety of events and festivals throughout the year, further unlocking the town's potential as a vibrant community hub.
