The 2023 Ellandi Real Shopper Survey


We love a bit of data. Actually we love a lot of data – we partner with market leading providers like Visitor Insights and CACI to build some of the most in-depth analytics in our industry. Data tells us a lot but it can’t replace the views of real shoppers. Which is why every year we take to the streets and carry out our portfolio-wide Real Shopper Survey. This year we spoke to over 4,700 shoppers across 20 locations.


Our surveys give us detailed, location specific insights into what our shoppers think about our centres, how they use them and how this has changed over time. These insights show us how we can adapt to the changing needs of the people that use them.  As well as helping us understand the impact of the cost-of-living crisis, this year’s survey shows the degree to which we, as an industry, need to pay more attention to what visitors want us to bring into their
shopping and leisure places.


Sam Fox, Ellandi’s Head of Research and Analytics was live talking through the results and implications of the UK’s most comprehensive and geographically diverse consumer research programme including:​

Ellandi’s Real Shopper Survey is exceptionally insightful. The statistics are very informative and it’s great to get real feedback from real shoppers.
